             abstract = "This paper describes a method for classification of remote sensing 
                         images integrating the importance of texture with the eficiency of 
                         the artificial neural networks. The classification process 
                         consists of applying Gabor filters followed by neural network 
                         classification. This classification is based on a multi-layer 
                         perceptron neural network with backpropagation algorythm. Some 
                         results of experiments with synthetic and remote sensing images 
                         are presented and discussed.",
